William E. Pfister, 79, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Warren Hospital. Born: July 15, 1930 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son of the late Charles I. Pfister and the late Emily Robertson Pfister. Personal: He lived in Phillipsburg nearly all his life. William was a teacher, he led a program for gifted students at the Highland School in Jamaica Estates, New York and also Senior High School English and advanced placement English at the Garden School in Jackson Heights, New York. He served as senior training associate at Day-Timers Inc. in Allentown, PA. He developed Jumpstart in Partnership with Lehigh County Vo-Tech. He was presently working at Magic Kitchen in Phillipsburg. He was active in organizing the annual Jaycees Easton-Phillipsburg Halloween Parade. He served in the Marine Corps as a staff sergeant from 1950 to 1953 at Paris Island, SC. His pleasure and hobby was acting. He was a member of the Chansonette Theater in Easton and the Civic Little Theater in Allentown. He led the Civic Little Theater's Children's Theater School for three years. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School, class of 1947, Lafayette College with a A.B. in English in 1951, received his M.S. Degree in Education from Temple University in 1960. Memberships: He was a member of Kappa Phi Kappa Honorary Education Fraternity, Association for Childhood Education, National Association of English Teachers and the United Federation of Teachers. Survivors: sister, Catherine J. Boerstler of Bethlehem Township, PA; his very good friend, Edward Johns of Alpha, NJ; three nephews, William A. Boerstler and his wife Catherine of Denver, PA, Jeffrey Boerstler and his wife Jennifer of Bethlehem, PA, Christopher Boerstler and his wife Kimberly of Phillipsburg; eight great-nieces and nephews. Services: Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Rupell Funeral Home LLC, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 11am to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Phillipsburg. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Center for Animal Health and Welfare, 1155 Island Park Road, Easton, PA 18045.
